We Run Strong believes that running and healthy nutrition go hand in hand. We are proud to share the following programs that We Run Strong and Moenkopi Developers Corporation have invested in for the health of the community.

Painted Desert Farmers' Market

In collaboration with various local community health programs, We Run Strong is a key supporter in bringing the seasonal Farmers' Market to fruition since it's inception in July of 2013. The farmers' market operates from July through October of every year with volunteers from various organizations working tirelessly to provide fresh and healthy produce and value added foods to the local community. The Painted Desert Farmers' Market makes a strong effort in incorporating nutrition education with every market, providing healthy food demonstrations, and traditional food demonstration every week, in an attempt to sustain local knowledge and use of traditional foods. We Run Strong and Moenkopi Developers Corporation is happy to announce that the Arizona state DOUBLE UP program will have a presence in our 2018 Painted Desert Farmers' Market.

We Run Strong and Moenkopi Developers Corporation thanks the following organizations for their consistent annual support and collaboration for the Painted Desert Farmers' Market, which is located next to the Moenkopi Legacy Inn & Suites off HWY 160 in Moenkopi, Arizona on the Hopi reservation.

FoodCorps at Moenkopi Developers Corporation

We Run Strong has invested in providing daily nutrition education to the local Hopi elementary school, Moencopi Day School. By providing Food orps services to the school and children, We Run Strong is proud to add this strong new component of health and wellness promotion to the local Hopi youth. FoodCorps is a program under the national AmeriCorps program focused solely on nutrition education, with opportunities of hiring local community members to provide this service. Our goal is not not only educate the youth through this program, but to educate the local community members of the possibilities for them to be service members themselves.

Currently our FoodCorps service member is in the process of providing a unique after-school backpack project for the students called the Take & Make Healthy Food Pack project. Thanks to our grantor, the First Nations Development Institute, our FoodCorps service member is able to provide healthy ingredients and recipes twice a week to every student and Moencopi Day School. These ingredients focus on one or all of the following: local foods, traditional foods, healthy food alternatives. Our goal of this project is to reach beyond the classroom and into the students' homes, introducing healthy food and snack alternatives for the entire family to try. Askwali/Kwa'kwa for First Nations Development Institute for their support in this project!
